Trailerwatch: Autómata

Fans of the genre have always been aware of post-Franco Spanish cinema thanks to directors like Alex de La Iglesia, Alejandro Amenábar and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. They and their more recent counterparts are best known for work in the horror field, but it seems as though Nacho Vigalondo‘s Timecrimes and Extraterrestrial may yet herald a new wave of SF films instead.

Check out this frankly great-looking trailer for former visual effects specialist Gabe Ibáñez‘s new flick, Automata; it may be built of familiar pieces of other films and books, but the execution looks stylish and the world-building convincing for an independent flick. Let’s hope it gets a U.K. release date this year.
